The Fire Ant Tetra (Hyphessobrycon myrmex) is a small (1–1.5 inches), vibrant, orange-red fish popular in planted tanks. Originating from Brazil's upper Rio Tapajós, males display intense red coloration. They are peaceful schooling fish, best kept in groups of 5–10, thriving in soft, acidic water (\(74–82^\circ\text{F}\), pH 5.5–7.0) with plenty of cover.
